Make a homemade apple and prune compote flavoured with vanilla. Simple, healthy and delicious, perfect for a snack or dessert!
In a saucepan, bring 25 cl of water to the boil and infuse a tea bag. While the tea is brewing, cut the prunes in half and split the vanilla pod in half lengthways.
Once the tea has steeped, remove the tea bag and add the prunes and vanilla pod to the pan.
While the prunes are soaking in the tea, peel the apples, remove the cores and seeds, then cut them into small pieces. Add them to the pan.
Cook over a low heat for around 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Check that the apples are tender by pricking them with a fork. When they are, remove the vanilla pod and pour the mixture into a blender.
Blend until you obtain the desired consistency for your apple and prune compote.
This preparation can be stored in a jar in the fridge for up to 7 days.
For even more flavour, you can add half a spoonful of ground or powdered cinnamon to the compote once it’s ready.
